Who We Are
Who we are:
We are members of Church of Christ (Ghanaian Congregation in the Bronx, New York.) We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and He is the Founder of the only one true Bible Church, and we do not belong to any religious denomination. The members of Church of Christ (Ghanaian Congregation) belief that The True Bible Church is autonomous, and we do associate with other Churches of Christ who have same beliefs and practices. We are the One True Bible Church and Our Beliefs, Practices and Doctrine are based on the Bible alone. We are children of God, and we are proud to be called citizens of the Kingdom of God.
Anyone who seeks the truth and eternal salvation can become a member of the Church of Christ by hearing the gospel. They must believe the truth of the Gospel, repenting from their sins, confessing Christ as the Son of God and be baptized into Christ (Mk 16:15-16, Rom. 10:9-10; 6:1-6). We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is the only one who can add the saved to the Church (Act 2:47). We worship according the method of the New Testament (2 Cor. 6:3). We are ambassadors of Jesus Christ, and our goal is to continue propagating the gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Matt. 28:18-20) and through us, the world may see God and glorify His name.
What Are Our Beliefs
The Churches of Christ share the belief and practice that the Church is autonomous. The Bible is our only guide; the congregational church is organized without denominational oversight. The organization of the church is focused on Evangelism, Edification, Benevolence, and Visitation. We the members of the Church of Christ refuse to hold on to any formalized “Statement of Faith or Creeds," but rely solely on the Bible for our doctrine and practices.
We worship according to the New Testament (2 Cor. 3:6). We give as God has prospered us (1 Cor. 16:1-2). We observe and practice the Lord's Supper every Sunday, and we believe that it is the commemoration of the memorial meal commanded by Christ (Matt 26:26-28, 1 Cor. 11:23-28, Act 20:7). We believe that the Lord’s Supper is for the proclamation of Christ's death for sinners; and examination of the individual's Christian commitment. It reminds us that God requires our commitment, obedience, and righteousness.
The members of the Church of Christ (Ghanaian Congregation) believe that the New Testament is our primary guide to the truth of God and the understanding to the Christian faith, beliefs, and practices. We believe that “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Tim 3:16-17 - KJV).
We believe that the Holy Ghost is the Spirit of Truth and the Comforter of all believers. He searches the deep things of God, brings to our minds things of the past, reveals things to come, and He is the medium by which we receive the revelation of Jesus Christ (John 14:15-18, 26, 15:26, 16:13; Micah 10:3-7).
We believe in God the Eternal Father, who is the only Supreme Being; Creator of the universe; Ruler and Judge of all; unchangeable and without respect of persons. (Isa 45:15-21; Mal 3:6; Rev 20:11-13; Micah 8:19)
We believe that all men shall be saved through the atonement of Christ by obedience to the laws of Christ and ordinances of the Gospel. We believe that salvation come by hearing the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, believing in the message, repentance of sins, and Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins (John 3:16-17; Mark 10:13-16; 3 Acts 8:14-17; Mark 16:17-18; Jas 5:14-16).
